An Eco-Driving Strategy Considering Phase-Switch-Based Bus Lane Sharing

Eco-driving is one of the most effective control strategies to enable energy management for urban traffic. However, existing eco-driving still have two shortcomings: (i) these lack consideration lateral decision-making; (ii) their performance deteriorates when a controlled vehicle encounters traffic queues at signalized intersection. To overcome shortcomings, this paper proposes an innovative strategy intersection approach lanes consisting bus-priority lane (BPL) and general-purpose (GPLs). The proposed has capability decision-making allows ego connected automated vehicles (CAV) bypass queue. capability, permits CAV change share BPL. Both left-turning-movement CAVs going-through-movement are allowed BPL; i.e., function BPL can be switched as per phases signal scheme. Through phase-switch-based bus sharing, aims improve efficiency sustainability under partially environment. validate its effectiveness, evaluated against non-control baseline state-of-the-art strategy. Sensitivity analysis conducted six different demand levels five penetration rates. results show that outperforms benefits fuel improvement, throughput delay reduction.
